Soccer’s Highest Paid Players Of All Time

Most professional athletes get paid fairly well, with the upper elite of players become millionaires over the course of their careers. Soccer players tend to be no different, and often make up some of the most well paid athletes on the face of the earth.

In fact, many famous soccer players become celebrities in their own right, often with a large flock of followers and some truly expensive sponsorship deals, some of which are worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

There’s no denying that all of these players are truly skilled at what they do, and along with their talent on the field, their showmanship and lifestyles are an important factor in their fame. With all that in mind, these are some of the highest paid soccer players of all time.

1. Paul Pogba

Pogba is often cited as among the greats in soccer, and he has earned numerous achievements during his long and successful career. At the moment, the player earns around $33 million every year that he’s under contract.

His large pay cheque comes in part due to playing for the club Manchester United, which is one of the richest in the sporting world, which he joined in 2016 after being with Juventus for a number of years. An example of the kind of money that Pogba deals in would be following the 2018, where he sold his Cleats for $30000.

2. Christiano Ronaldo

There aren’t many people that haven’t heard of Ronaldo, soccer fan or not. The famed player currently plays for Juventus, and earns around $64 million every year thanks both to his contract and sponsorship deals.

He’s among the best players currently in the world, which his sale of his 2018 Juventus jerseys can attest to, where he sold enough of them to earn a tidy sum of $60 million in just 24 hours. This is in part to his athletic ability, as well as his massive following on social media, making him the most followed athlete on the planet.

3. Neymar

Just ahead of Ronaldo is Neymar, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and makes an incredible amount of money off of his contract every year. In fact, his transfer over from Barcelona remains the most expensive transfer of all time, costing his new club a massive $262 million before he was even officially signed over.

His contact, along with a number of deals, have seen the player make a mind-boggling $350 million over the last five years, more money than most people could even dream about making in their entire lives, which is why it’s better to play games for fun rather than profit.

5. Lionel Messi

Despite the high salaries of the previous entries, no one comes quite as close to Lionel Messi in terms of the sheer amount of money that he generates every year. Considered by many to be the best player of his generation, Messi makes $127 million every year that he’s out on the field, and has been part of Barcelona for the last five years. Along with the $80 million he makes per season, his long term Adidas contract sees him walking away with countless millions more.
